Fertility Rehabilitation

Specialized pelvic floor care to support your fertility journey and help prepare your body for pregnancy.

    Understanding Fertility Rehabilitation

Fertility physical therapy is specialized pelvic floor care designed to support your reproductive health — whether you are trying to conceive naturally, preparing for IVF or IUI, or recovering from fertility surgery. The pelvic floor muscles, abdominal fascia, and visceral (organ) mobility all influence blood flow, nerve function, and the mechanical environment around your reproductive organs. When those tissues are tight, scarred from previous surgery, or poorly aligned, they can contribute to unexplained infertility and pelvic congestion.

I am certified in Fertility Rehabilitation Levels 1 and 2 and hold the Pelvic Rehab Fertility Specialist (PRFS) credential — advanced, fertility-specific training beyond standard pelvic floor coursework. That means your treatment is timed to your cycle or IVF protocol, your labs and imaging are read in context, and your care is coordinated with your reproductive endocrinologist. Fertility rehab is not a substitute for medical fertility treatment — it is a complement that optimizes the environment for conception and implantation.

We see patients from Montclair and across North Jersey who are navigating infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, PCOS, endometriosis, or post-surgical recovery. Whether you are at the beginning of your fertility journey or deep in an IVF cycle, pelvic floor therapy can support your body through the process.

Who Can Benefit from Fertility Rehab?

Fertility physical therapy may help if you have:

    • • Unexplained infertility with no identified medical cause
    • • Previous abdominal or pelvic surgery (C-section, laparoscopy, myomectomy)
    • • Endometriosis or fibroids affecting pelvic mobility
    • • Recurrent pregnancy loss
    • • Pelvic pain or tension that may affect conception
    • • Currently in or preparing for an IVF or IUI cycle
    • • PCOS with pelvic floor dysfunction
    • • High stress levels impacting your cycle or fertility journey

    How I Approach Fertility Rehabilitation

Your first visit includes a detailed history of your fertility journey, cycle, labs, and any surgeries — plus a pelvic floor and abdominal assessment. I use visceral mobilization to gently improve the mobility and blood flow of reproductive organs, myofascial release for scar tissue from previous surgeries, and pelvic floor down-training to reduce tension that may be affecting circulation. All treatment is timed to your cycle or IVF protocol.

I work alongside your reproductive endocrinologist — reading your labs in context, aligning sessions with your transfer timeline, and adjusting techniques based on where you are in your cycle. The goal is to optimize the mechanical and circulatory environment for conception and implantation, while also reducing the stress and tension that often accompany fertility treatment.

    Fertility Rehab Questions, Answered

How does pelvic floor therapy support fertility?+

Fertility rehab addresses pelvic floor tension, releases abdominal and pelvic scar tissue (from C-sections, laparoscopies, or endometriosis surgery), improves blood flow to reproductive organs, and reduces stress-related pelvic dysfunction — all of which can improve conception odds.

Can I do fertility rehab during IVF or IUI?+

Yes. Fertility rehab complements ART cycles. We coordinate timing with your reproductive endocrinologist to support implantation, reduce treatment-related tension, and prepare the body for transfer.

Will C-section or endometriosis scar tissue affect fertility?+

It can. Scar tissue from prior abdominal or pelvic surgery may restrict mobility of reproductive organs and affect circulation. Visceral mobilization and myofascial release can address this.

    Who is fertility rehab for?+

Patients trying to conceive, those with unexplained infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, or anyone preparing for or recovering from fertility surgery (myomectomy, endometriosis surgery, fibroid removal).

Is Dr. Maharaja certified in fertility rehab?+

Yes. Dr. Tanvi Maharaja is certified in Fertility Rehabilitation Levels 1 and 2 and holds the Pelvic Rehab Fertility Specialist (PRFS) certification through Triggered Academy, with additional training in visceral mobilization and pelvic floor therapy specific to reproductive health.

What does the PRFS certification mean for me as a patient?+

The Pelvic Rehab Fertility Specialist (PRFS) certification is advanced, fertility-specific training beyond standard pelvic floor coursework — covering how stress, circulation, hormones, and pelvic and abdominal restrictions influence conception, plus hands-on labs in cycle-timed manual therapy and reviewed case studies. Practically, it means your treatment is timed to your cycle or IVF protocol, your labs and imaging are read in context, and your care is coordinated with your reproductive endocrinologist.
